Inspiration Grove

On December 5, the Sequoia High School Alumni Association and Sequoia High School conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for a plot of land being developed under the name, Inspiration Grove. Inspiration Grove is a stand of redwoods outside the Business wing of Sequoia High, off the student parking lot on Elwood Street, in close proximity to the baseball field (Bob Andersen Field). Alumni, staff, students and the general public were invited to attend.

Inspiration Grove was initiated as part of a yearlong fundraising drive accompanying the naming of the baseball field, "Bob Andersen Field", in honor of beloved former teacher and coach, Bob Andersen. Monies collected are destined for the purchase of uniforms and attendance at sports camps for economically disadvantaged Sequoia High School student athletes.

Donors have purchased bricks, trees and engraved benches for placement in the grove, honoring anyone, a teacher, coach or family member, for their inspiration, encouragement and mentoring, who had a positive and lasting influence on their life. Bricks, trees and engraved benches can still be purchased by contacting Dee Eva at (650) 368-4800, with funds now going toward a broader purpose in support of Sequoia High School.

The completed project will be celebrated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for March 20 at 3:00 PM.
